How to disable device security on a Samsung Galaxy (Android 7, 8 and 9)

This tutorial will show you step by step how to disable the built-in device security on a Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 7, 8 and 9.

This tutorial works for all Samsung Galaxy phones with Android 7 (Nougat), Android 8 (Oreo), and Android 9 (Pie), such as the Samsung Galaxy J2, A3, J3, J4, J4 Plus, Note 5, J5 Pro, A5, J6, J6 Plus, A6, S6, S6 Edge, A7, J7 Pro, S7, S7 Edge, J8, A8 Plus, S8, S8 Plus, Note 8, A9, S9, S9 Plus, S9 Note, and all other types.

How to turn off device security on a Samsung Galaxy (Android 7, 8 and 9)

1. Open Settings.

2. Open Apps.

3. Tap on the ⋮ (3 dots) options button in the top right corner of your phone's screen.

4. Tap on Show system apps.

5. Scroll down to Device security.

6. Tap on Device security.

7. Tap on Storage.

8. Tap on CLEAR DATA.

9. Tap on DELETE or OK (Android 9).

If you now open “Settings” > “Device maintenance” or “Device care” > “Device security” you will see that “Device security” is disabled (deactivated).
